Best Banks to Work For

Peoples Bank of East Tennessee is proud to announce its inclusion on American Banker Magazine’s Best Banks to Work For list for 2024. Out of 4,577 banks nationwide, PBET ranked #43 in the Top 90, a recognition that reflects the bank’s commitment to creating an outstanding workplace focused on employee well-being, growth, and satisfaction. 

This prestigious annual ranking, developed in partnership with Best Companies Group, celebrates banks with exemplary workplace environments, including competitive benefits, a welcoming culture, and unique perks that promote a healthy work-life balance. The ranking is based on an independent employee survey, as well as a review of PBET’s benefits, policies, and workplace culture.

Employee morale, culture, and benefits will continue to be top priorities for us. What contributed to this ranking? According to highlighted results shared by American Banker: 

Out of the 77 questions asked, 54 questions received a 90-100% positive rating. The additional 23 questions had an overall average of 84% positive rating. 

Employers cannot require employees to take the survey or reward/sway employees for favorable answers. This standard is heavily enforced by American Banker Magazine for accurate employee feedback. With this in mind, Peoples Bank had an overall participation rate of 63% and scored an overall positive rating of 91%.

One team member was quoted from the survey as saying, "People Bank of East Tennessee considers their employees to be part of their family. All decisions made are employee focused and they recognize the importance of work/life balance." 

Another team member was quoted from the survey as saying, “Employees are heard and cared for by management. We are given plenty of opportunities and encouragement to grow, but if we enjoy and just want to continue to excel in our current role, that is also allowed and appreciated. Management actively looks for creative ways to reward employees for hard work throughout the year, paying attention to what employees actually like or need. Personal milestones and accomplishments are acknowledged and celebrated by the bank, and we are supported in whatever ways necessary when personal losses or tragedies occur. The family atmosphere is fostered and encouraged within the organization and extended to our customers as well.”
