Peoples Bank of East Tennessee Announces Name Change to People First Bank
MADISONVILLE, TN. — Peoples Bank of East Tennessee has officially changed its name to People First Bank, with public-facing updates and signage expected to be completed by October 5, 2026.
We are transitioning from “of East Tennessee” and choosing People First, like we always have.
The new name reflects the bank’s continued growth into communities beyond East Tennessee, including North Georgia, while keeping the focus where it has always been: on people.
“Our new name is not a move away from who we are. It is a clearer reflection of who we have always been,” said Jeremy Callias, President. “This is more than a name change. It is a statement about what has always mattered most to us: people. Our employees, our customers, and our shareholders have always been the heart of this bank, and will continue to be. Our customers will continue to see the same familiar faces, receive the same local service, go to the same locations, and bank with the same community commitment they know and trust.”
Founded in 1997, Peoples Bank of East Tennessee (originally Peoples Bank of Monroe County) has grown from its Madisonville roots into a community bank serving customers across East Tennessee and North Georgia. As the bank continues to grow into new communities, the words “of East Tennessee” no longer fully reflect the reach of the customers and communities served by the bank.
People First Bank was selected because it reflects the bank’s long-standing mission and culture. Since the beginning, the bank has been built around relationships, trust, local service, and care for the communities it serves. The new name brings that commitment to the forefront and more fully aligns the bank’s identity with its purpose: putting people first in every decision, every relationship, and every community it serves.
“Our new name does not just stand out. It stands for something,” said Chris White, CEO and Chairman “People First Bank will be more than a brand. It will be our continued commitment to our customers, our employees, our shareholders, and the communities we serve. Together, we are strengthening a legacy centered on people that began in 1997.”
Beginning October 5th, customers will begin seeing the People First Bank name and logo across signage, digital channels, marketing materials, customer communications, and other branded items. Updates will take place in phases, and customers may see both names during the transition.
Customers do not need to take any action at this time. Accounts, services, local banking relationships, and day-to-day service will continue as usual. The same familiar team will remain in place to serve customers with the same community banking commitment they know and trust.
Beginning October 5, 2026, Peoples Bank of East Tennessee will be People First Bank.
